Fargo Police Chief offers condolences to family of suspect shot and killed by officer

(Fargo, ND) -- Fargo Police Chief Dave Zibolski is offering condolences to the family of 28-year old crime suspect Shane Netterville, one day after Attorney General Drew Wrigley ruled police officer Adam O'Brien was justified in shooting and killing Netterville

"These are really traumatic events for our officers as well as the families of the folks involved in these things. You know we offer our condolences in this instance to the Netterville family," said Zibolski.

Attorney General Drew Wrigley says Netterville turned the stolen van he was driving into a weapon, when he rapidly drove the van toward three Fargo police officers during an encounter July 8th. Chief Zibolsky says officer O'Brien will return to patrol work September 7th, after taking a required paid leave of absence following the shooting and the investigation.  

Zibolski says representatives from the Police Department met with Netterville's family members to review footage of the shooting recorded with the officer's body-worn cameras, before the footage was released to the public Monday.
