Former North Dakota gubernatorial candidate expresses "disgust" and calls Mund "tainted" after Haugen's departure from congressional race

(Fargo, ND) -- Cara Mund, the independent candidate for North Dakota's lone congressional seat is taking criticism from a former candidate for governor.

Dr. Shelley Lenz made comments while denouncing what she calls the move by the Democratic NPL to force Mark Haugen out of the race, in order to bolster support for Mund.

"I don't know if she was involved in it. Either she was naive or involved. I'm not sure but I do feel like that move by the Democratic NPL tainted her," said Lenz.

Lenz contends the party supports Mund because she is pro-choice, while Haugen is pro-life.

"I was pretty sad. It was more than sad. I was really kind of disgusted that it appears to be somebody that is not even here in North Dakota in previous leadership kind of forced him out for a shiny new object," said Lenz.

Lenz was the Democratic-NPL candidate for governor in 2020.

Mund has not accepted our requests for an interview to this point.
