(Fargo, ND) -- Hot turkey sandwiches were served up Thursday to benefit a local agency.

"You know it's so much more than just a hot turkey sandwich lunch. All the dollars raised today go into our campaign to help families and youth fight poverty right here in the community," said United Way of Cass-Clay President Karla Isley.

She was at Hornbacher's in South Fargo, while the grocery chain offered the lunches for donations at all of their locations. It was the 15th year for the event to help raise money for the nonprofit. Isley says money raised will be used to help provide programs aimed at reducing homelessness, helping the food insecure and connecting people with job training. Hornbacher's calls the event "Gobble it Up". Last year the event raised about $28 thousand and they hope to surpass that total this year.

"There is lots of great organizations in our community that everybody gets excited about but the United Way really kind of uplifts the whole community and is really thinking about everyone," said Hornbacher's President Matt Leiseth.
