(Fargo, ND) -- The Fargo Police Department is on scene of what has been confirmed as a  shooting on the city's south side.

FPD tells WDAY Radio that at 9:46 p.m. Officers, the Fargo Fire Department and Sanford Ambulance responded to the 2700 block of 47th Street South for a reported disturbance and sounds of gunfire.

When officers arrived on scene, they made contact with a married couple. The husband confirmed his wife had been shot.

The husband told officers that a white Jeep with two occupants had pulled up outside of his apartment. He and the Jeep’s occupants then had a verbal argument before exchanging gunfire. A bullet passed through the apartment window and struck the female victim. The white Jeep then fled the scene.

The husband provided aid to his wife until first responders took over. The victim was transported via ambulance to a local hospital with serious injuries.

FPD says they are searching for the white Jeep and the two occupants inside. The suspect and the individuals in the apartment were known to one another.

If you have any information on this incident or the whereabouts of the White Jeep, you're asked to contact the Fargo Police Department as soon as possible.

The incident remains under investigation.
