U.S. Senate candidate Rick Becker touts proposal to eliminate property tax in North Dakota

(Fargo, ND) -- U.S. Senate candidate Rick Becker is talking about his proposal to eliminate property taxes in North Dakota. 

"North Dakota is unique amongst all the states in its opportunity to eliminate the property tax without eliminating any services and without increasing sales or income tax. I mean it's a situation that any other state would just die for," said Becker.  

Becker's resolution would need to be passed by the legislature to appear on the ballot in 2024, however Becker will no longer be serving as a state representative during the next term.  Becker says an unnamed legislative colleague has agreed to officially sponsor the proposal. Becker is running as an independent for US Senate against republican incumbent John Hoeven and democrat Katrina Christiansen.   

"So when I looked at the opportunity for voters in November for the U.S. Senate race, in my opinion, their choices before I got in the race were a big spending democrat and a big spending republican. Based on where America is at right now, that is really, really not a good option. It's not good enough, and therefore I got in the race," said Becker.
