(Fargo, ND) -- The incumbent state senator representing Fargo's District 27 talks about how she became interested in politics.

"i got bit by the political bug in high school, served as a page at the state legislature in South Dakota so I got to go out there, leave high school for two weeks and basically just be a gopher for two weeks and see the process firsthand and that's where the interest in the legislative process started," said Kristin Roers.

The republican was elected in 2018 and is seeking re-election on November 8th. A legislative committee she currently serves on is focused on pension reform. Roers says the committee is currently working on a plan to switch public employees in the state pension plan from a defined benefit program to a "hybrid" plan, which would include employee contributions.

Roers says she is running for re-election because she has not yet accomplished her goals for serving in state government.
