(Fargo, ND) -- Fargo Police Chief Dave Zibolski says the department is working to identify a suspect and seeking additional witnesses in the shooting deaths of two men at a home early Saturday morning near the NDSU campus.

The double murder happened at a home in the 1000 block of 15th St. North just after 3:00 a.m. Saturday.

The men who were killed are identified as Fargo residents 28-year-old Jaquan Gatewood and 27-year-old Kierre Davies. Zibolski says both men have prior contacts with police.

"In the interest of public safety, we are extremely confident that everyone in this incident was familiar with everyone else. So there is no random person involved at this juncture and so from a public safety perspective we don't believe that there is any other danger to the community. There were all individuals known to each other," said Zibolski.

Neighbors report hearing an argument prior to 3 gunshots.

Zibolski says other people were at the house for a "gathering" and would not say whether weapons or drugs were recovered at the scene.

The chief says some people who were at the home at the time of the shooting were being cooperating with investigators.

Anyone with information in the case is asked to contact the Fargo PD Tip Line at (701) 451-7660.
