(Fargo, ND) -- A woman who identifies herself as a friend of a Moorhead homicide victim described the victim as someone who worked hard to support her family.

"She was always working, and she loved her family, she loved everybody around her. She was a nice person. She worked really, really hard to maintain her family," said Evelyn Seward.

Seward says her friend had worked as a psychiatric nurse, and had recently joined her to celebrate with another friend who had purchased a home. Seward also says she and the victim had previously attended the same church.

"It's shocking to the Liberian community. It's sad news," said Seward.

Also at the scene Friday morning, a neighbor told WDAY News First the victim and her family had moved into their home a few doors down last year.

Basim Habib says he doesn't know exactly what happened, but was at home when police were called to the scene late Thursday night.

"Obviously it was a very traumatic event, all these people, all these cop cars showing up, and then the fire department, the ambulance.  There was a lot of screaming and yelling," said Habib.

Habid calls the homicide an "unfortunate situation" in a neighborhood he generally considers safe, and where children are often at play.

However, he says he has noticed police activity at the victim's home in the past.

"I've seen a few cop cars show up here a few times but obviously I didn't know what was going on," said Habib.
