NDSU athletic director on Bison playing for another FCS football championship: "You've got to pinch yourself"

(Fargo, ND) -- NDSU Athletic Director Matt Larson says he and the Bison football team are fired up and ready to head to Frisco, Texas next week to compete for a national championship.

"This is my seventh trip down to Frisco and there are still times where you've got to pinch yourself, the fact that I've been here 9 years, nine football seasons, and we are competing for our seventh national championship. So it's just incredible. It speaks to the, just where our program is, the consistency year in and year out," said Larson.

Larson says having the past couple of weeks off is giving injured players time to heal up before the title tilt on Sunday, January 8th against South Dakota State. The Jackrabbits have won their last 3 games against NDSU.

Larson was asked if players ever paid attention to doubts expressed about the team during the ups and downs of the regular season and the playoffs.

"The best part is that thought never enters the locker room. Our guys just have a really strong belief in what we do here. They have a really strong belief in our process and the way we go. There may be setbacks throughout the year, wether it's a loss or an injury, whatever it might be but our plan, our philosophy has worked and I think they just stay really true to that," said Larson.

The Bison will travel to Frisco Thursday, January 5th.
