High-risk stop conducted along I-94 outside Mapleton following reports of gunfire along interstate

(Mapleton, ND) -- A suspect is in custody following a high-risk stop and reports of gunfire along I-94.

North Dakota Highway Patrol Troopers say authorities near Fargo responded to a road rage report and of a reckless driver around 3:00 p.m on Wednesday. The report says the allegedly aggressive driver fired their gun at passing vehicles, with one confirmed report of a broken window via gunfire according to authorities. Troopers say a stop was conducted outside of Mapleton on I-94, and a suspect was taken into custody without further incident. 

Authorities say they were on scene for approximately an hour and that traffic was briefly stopped on I-94, but quickly resumed following the high-risk situation

The case remains under investigation by the North Dakota Highway Patrol at this time.
