North Dakota launches new state office to leverage energy sector and promote economic development

(Fargo, ND) -- North Dakota's Commerce Commissioner is announcing the creation of a new state office that will have the mission of maximizing the state's vast energy resources while also promoting economic development.

"We said there needs to be kind of a centralized place for whose going to be the go to energy experts, you know for the state, that's going to pull in industry stakeholders," said Josh Tiegen.

Tiegen is talking about the new "Energy and Economic Coordination Office". Tiegen says the office will allow industry experts to work with North Dakota's energy producers to advance the state's energy strategy.

"The biggest thing is that coordination and collaboration piece. We want to do really deep dives with all the energy sectors, whether that's wind, solar, oil and gas, Lignite, hydrogen," said Tiegen.
