Deadline extended for candidate applications to serve on North Dakota State Board of Higher Education

(Fargo, ND) -- The deadline is being extended for citizen candidates interested in serving on the North Dakota State Board of Higher Education.

"We are looking for people that are committed to, invested in their community, their state, that have some commitment to public service," said State School Superintendent Kirsten Baesler.

Baesler says so far six candidates have applied, including one incumbent, for two positions which are coming open June first. Baesler says they are looking for a diverse group of applicants from different areas around the state. One term runs 4 years and board members are limited to two terms. The board oversees the state's 11 colleges and universities. The application deadline is January 26th.

"I would encourage anyone that is considering it to put all those doubts aside. What I am so proud of in North Dakota is that we really are grass roots led, we are grass roots governed and that is the board of higher education," said Baesler.
