Video plays key role in case involving sexual relationship between former Fargo school employee and 14-year-old boy

(Fargo, ND) -- A former Fargo Public Schools employee has pleaded to charges related to having a sexual relationship with a 14-year-old student. Video evidence played a key role in the case. 

"The video was concerning enough that thankfully a student came forward and notified the school and a school resource officer took a report and that's how the investigation began," said Assistant Cass County State's Attorney Renata Selzer.

Selzer says the case involved 20-year-old lunch supervisor Ruthie Ann Carlson, and a boy at Ben Franklin Middle School. Selzer says the video being shared at school showed Carlson and the teen both partially dressed.

Carlson pleaded guilty Tuesday to charges including gross sexual imposition and drug possession. She will be sentenced March 20th.
