During this meeting, the Special Assessment Commission will hold a preliminary, pre-construction review of the following projects that are being wholly or partially funded through special assessments:

  • Improvement district no. 1339, also known as The Stockyards Redevelopment project, was requested by a private developer. This multiphase project will redevelop the former cattle stockyards east of 9th Street NW into a heavy industrial area.
  • Improvement district no. 2270, is a project to install a traffic signal at the intersection of 9th Street W. and 32nd Avenue W. to improve traffic flow along both corridors. The project will also add flashing yellow arrows for the east-west traffic to help with turning traffic during off-peak hours.
  • Improvement district no. 2271, is a project to pave 7th Avenue NW and 5th Street Court NW. The existing gravel roadway will be reconstructed to a concrete surface to support traffic to this area, including new development in The Stockyards Redevelopment project.

This allows the review of properties within the improvement district for any anomalies that may affect individual assessments.

There is no formal actions on these districts during this meeting. These districts are slated for the 2023 construction season. Special assessments for these districts are anticipated to be levied in 2024.
