(Barnesville, MN) -- A rural Barnesville home is a total loss after a massive fire rang out Saturday evening.

The Clay County Sheriff's Office tells WDAY Radio that at 8:37 p.m. deputies, along with Barnesville Police and Fire, Sabin Fire and Barnesville Ambulance were called to the structure fire at 15585 130th street south after reports of smoke and flames were made.

When crews arrived, the home was fully engulfed in flames, which was challenging enough. But, another obstacle presented itself for first responders as well. That being that the driveway to the residence was impassable due to snow blowing across it.

Shortly after, a Clay County Highway Department snow plow was able to clear a path to the home so crews could put out the blaze.

Luckily, there were no injuries in the fire, but the home was burnt to the ground.

As of Sunday afternoon, it is unclear what led to the start of the fire. The State Fire Marshal is investigating the incident.
