(Moorhead, MN) --  City leadership in Moorhead are giving updates on flood mitigation projects that are expected to be completed by the end of next year.

Moorhead Mayor Shelly Carlson joining WDAY Midday to give updates on the Minnesota side of the Red River regarding flood prevention projects. She says this year is a good reminder to stay on-top of constructing flood mitigation projects, and they have the money to complete the remaining plans in 2025.

"The state of Minnesota has provided about $113 Million dollars [for] flood mitigation work we have been doing. We have probably five projects left... we have a request to the state to fund us for $24 million, and then we should have our flood mitigation work done, "said Mayor Carlson.

In the meantime, flood meetings are being held every morning with city staff to stay up-to-date on possible breaches and problems as high waters continue to impact the F-M Metro. You can learn more about the city's flood plan by clicking here
