(Breckenridge, MN) -- A retired Twin Cities firefighter is facing additional charges after cutting his ankle monitor and feeling police.

The Breckenridge Police Department says 54-year-old Eric Jagers was already charged in an alleged assault on a former University of Minnesota football player.

Officers say he cut his ankle bracelet inside a store before driving off and leading law enforcement on a chase. After crashing into a street sign, Jagers drew a hunting bow on officers, and was taken into custody with minimal force used.

Officials say his mental health appears to be a factor in the confrontation.
