(Fargo, ND) -- Longtime Fargo City Engineer Mark Bittner passed away Friday afternoon at the age of 72.
Fargo Mayor Tim Mahoney confirmed Bittner's passing with WDAY Radio Now.
Bittner played key roles in directing the city's flood response efforts in 1997 and 2009.
"He was wonderful," said Mahoney.
Bittner served in the city's engineering office for nearly 43 years.
Funeral arrangements are pending.
