UPDATE: Fargo police "dedicating substantial resources" to investigation following teen's shooting death

(Fargo, ND) -- Fargo police investigators continue to search for answers and a suspect following a deadly shooting Monday night. 

The victim, whose name has not been released, was a 16-year old boy. 

Police say the teen's family has been notified. 

At 11:20 Monday night, officers responded to reports of shots fired in the 4400 block of 9th Avenue South. 

Investigators say a handgun was found on the ground next to the teen who died.
 
“The Fargo Police Department’s Criminal Investigation Division continues to work on active leads and is dedicating substantial resources to the investigation of this incident. We are able to confirm the decedent was a 16-year-old male and his family has been notified. As more information becomes available for public consumption, we will assuredly release those details," said Police Chief Dave Zibolski.
