Updated: Woman identified following fatal train strike in downtown Fargo

(Update: 6:41) --The victim of a fatal pedestrian train strike is now identified

The Fargo resident is identified as 59-year-old Kimberly Jo Reger. Authorities say the name was temporarily witheld from the public until next of kin was notified. 

(Fargo, ND) -- A woman is dead after being hit by a train early Sunday morning.

Fargo Police say the incident occurred just after 3:30 a.m at the 500 block of Roberts Street North for reports of an injury accident. According to authorities, train officials say they attempted to stop the train with emergency brakes, but were unable to stop before striking the pedestrian.

An investigation is ongoing, but authorities say the incident does not appear to be an accident, and that no foul play is suspected.
