JPII Catholic Schools president releases statement following arrest of former Shanley High School coach

(Fargo, ND) -- The president of St. John Paul II Catholic Schools released a statement Wednesday afternoon in response to the arrest of Shanley assistant baseball coach Nick Tweiten.

The arrest happened Saturday following a domestic incident.

"We were informed yesterday afternoon that Assistant Baseball Coach Nick Tweiten was arrested and charged with Felony Domestic Terrorizing this past weekend. This incident was a domestic incident and did not involve any Shanley students. Our assistant coaches are on annual contracts on a year-to-year basis.

Mr. Tweiten’s contract as an assistant baseball coach ended in May 2023 with the conclusion of the baseball season. As a Catholic school system, all our employees are subject to the standards of the Diocese of Fargo Code of Conduct.

Employees must be in good standing and agree to Code of Conduct expectations for a contract to be issued," wrote Mike Hagstrom.
