(Fargo, ND) -- Fargo Mayor Tim Mahoney provided updates Sunday to WDAY Radio Now on the two officers critically wounded in the shootout on 25th Street South.
Mahoney says Officers Andrew Dotas and Tyler Hawes are stable and improving, but "will need significant time to heal from their wounds."
Mahoney also called the outpouring of support for the officers "overwhelming".
The Mayor also repeated the claim made Saturday by Fargo Police Cheif Dave Zibolski that at this time "there doesn't appear to be a connection between the accident and the shooter but time will tell."
Zibolski announced Saturday that rookie Police Officer Jake Wallin died after being shot by 37- year-old Fargo resident Mohamad Barakat.
Barakat died after being shot by Officer Zach Robinson.
A 25-year-old Fargo woman was also shot during the exchange of gunfire, and was hospitalized.
Mahoney is scheduled to appear on "What's on Your Mind" on AM 1100 The Flag at 9:35 Monday morning to discuss the shooting incident.
