(Fargo, ND) -- WDAY Radio is speaking to investigative authorities after a long press conference this morning.
North Dakota Attorney General Drew Wrigley spoke to WDAY Radio and AM 1100 The Flag after a several hour press conference. Wrigley says the Fargo Police Department acted with honor and bravery in a shooting that killed Officer Jake Wallin on July 14th. That is why he asserts the public should "back the blue."
"Be worthy... We need to be worthy of the risks that they take [and] of the sacrifices that they make. We have to be able to do our part, "said Wrigley.
Speaking on the investigation into the suspect, Mohamad Barakat, Wrigley asserts he came prepared to commit a mass casualty event, going so far to say Barakat looked into local events to see what was available to strike.
"Mohamad Barakat [had] armed himself both with armaments, the weapons, the firepower, to carry out a mass casualty event, but had also armed himself with studying, researching, and reading up on mass casualty events including up to the day before, "said Wrigley after a press conference that began Friday morning.
Wrigley called the shooting on Fargo Officers a part of the "horrible winds of fate", saying the crash along 25th street south between two vehicles caught the attention of Barakat. Wrigley says Barakat was traveling northbound along 25th street south when he came across the accident. Authorities say Barakat circled the accident scene and parked near the initial crash several times.
