(Fargo, ND) -- Summit Carbon Solutions CEO Lee Blank says the company expects to re-submit their plans for a CO2 pipeline in North Dakota to state regulators sometime this week.
"I think the concerns were that we might be a tad close to Bismarck and so at the end of the day what we're thinking about is how do we adjust the route a bit further east and north to move just slightly further away from Bismarck," said Blank.
In early August, North Dakota regulators turned down a permit application for Summit's pipeline project, citing concerns with the project's proximity to Bismarck.
The pipeline project spans 5 states.
The plan is to transport CO2 waste from several ethanol plants to an underground storage site near Bismarck.
Blank tells WDAY Radio Now that assuming they get the necessary approvals, construction could begin in the 2nd quarter of 2024, with the pipeline being operational by the 2nd quarter of 2025.
