(Moorhead, MN) -- The Moorhead City Council is presenting the Moorheart Award to a "driving" force in the community.

The City Council says Bill Bartholomay is one of the key people behind Moorhead's Cruise Night and a person who encourages others to find ways to help people in the community in unique ways. In a letter nominating Bartholomay, they say he and several Minnesota State Community and Technical College Students fixed up a vehicle for a nurse and mother of seven who did not have her own vehicle, and gave her the keys once the vehicle was in working condition again.

"“Bill has been a champion for anyone looking for some advice or help. Moorhead Cruise Night is as fantastic and fun as it is because Bill is behind all of it, getting it all together to ensure a fun and safe way for the community to come together and spend some quality time outside. Borrowing trucks, helping setup stages and tents, moving sandbags, and leading when people need it…they aren’t easy tasks he’s helping with, but Bill does them with a smile," said the nomination letter.

The Moorheart Award recognizes people who go above and beyond to build community within the city by actions and their service. You can learn more about the Moorheart Award by clicking here
