West Fargo School Resource Officer elected to national post

(West Fargo, ND) — A West Fargo School Resource Officer has been elected to the National Association of School Resource Officers’ Region 8 Director post, beginning in July 2024.

Todd Pearson will assume the role of Director for a a three-year term, and will represent the states of Michigan, Minnesota, Nebraska, Wisconsin, North Dakota and South Dakota.

“It has been an honor to work with the West Fargo Police Department and West Fargo Public Schools for the majority of my career,” said Pearson. “I have had the opportunity to interact with a wide variety of learners and community members and look forward to bringing those experiences to the role of NASRO Region 8 Director.”

West Fargo Police Chief Pete Nielsen said Pearson “has been instrumental in establishing the state’s first SRO comfort dog program.”

“The West Fargo Police Department is so proud of SRO Todd Pearson’s continued dedication to our department and area schools,” Nielsen said.

Heather Leas, West Fargo Public Schools Director of Health, Safety and Public Relations, said West Fargo Public Schools has “benefitted from Officer Pearson’s knowledge, skills and dedication to his role since 2007.”

“In that time, he has served learners and educators at every level (and nearly every school) in our district, giving him a unique perspective on school-based policing,” Leas said.
