(Fargo, ND) -- The City of Fargo is changing the rules surrounding private swimming pools and hot tubs, requiring fencing be placed in those areas.

The decision comes from the Fargo City Commission in the city's municipal code. Any pool or hot-tub, temporary or permanent, that has more than 2-feet of water must have some kind of fence or barrier surrounding it. The barrier must be four feet or higher, and at least four feet away from the edge of the water structure.

WDAY Radio is looking to speak with city officials about the change.
