Armstrong believes new school cell phone ban will have ‘huge impact’ on physical, mental health for students

North Dakota – As the new school year begins for many kids across the state of North Dakota, Governor Kelly Armstrong fells the new ban on cell phones during school days will lead to positive results.

“It’s just going to be a huge impact for the physical, emotional and objective reasoning for kids and I think it’s going to be great,” Armstrong told The Flag on Friday.

Since the ban was signed into law following the previous legislative session, school districts have crafted policies to adhere to the new ‘bell-to-bell’ rules, and created a violation structure if kids fail to abide by it.

Armstrong think it will also benefit parents and educators alike.

“You get kids making eye contact talking to each other and engaging,” said Armstrong.  “I think it’s great.”

West Fargo Public Schools had their first day of school for children on Thursday.

The first day of Fargo Public Schools will take place on August 27th.
