BISMARCK, N.D. – Governor Kelly Armstrong has signed bills that will require age-verification for anyone trying to access websites displaying pornography.
Another bill was signed to add civil penalties for creating deepfakes, or computer-generated, pornographic material without consent from the person in the videos or photos. Websites that fail to comply with the new regulations may be held liable for damages by a parent or guardian of a minor who accessed their content.
Both laws will go into effect in August.
