MINNESOTA – Gun rights advocates push back on a bill in the Minnesota Senate that would ban semi-automatic guns and large capacity magazines.
DFL State Senator Doctor Matt Klein’s legislation would have people who own those guns get them certified from the BCA and allow law enforcement to come into their home to make sure the guns are stored correctly.
“We know that guns are still the number on killer of children in America. In my days as a doctor at Hennepin County Medical Center, I saw those wounds firsthand,” Klein said.
Klein is running for Congresswoman Angie Craig’s seat. She’s running for Minnesota’s open Senate seat.
Vice President of the Sportsmen’s Alliance Rob Sexton strongly opposes the bill.
“One of the fundamental things that the original gang fought over when they created this country was the government’s ability to come into your home without cause, without warrant. This just really strikes at the heart of fundamental American freedoms,” Sexton said on “The Jay Thomas Show”.
A House version of Klein’s bill hasn’t been introduced.
