Bishop John Folda meets Pope Leo XIV during Fargo Diocese’s trip to Rome

ROME – Bishop John Folda is able to meet Pope Leo XIV during the Diocese of Fargo’s Young Adult Jubilee Pilgrimage to Rome.

The group left for Europe May 21 and arrived the next day. During the trip, Folda and Father William Slattery lead the group in a jubilee procession to the Holy Door at Saint Peter’s Basilica and the group celebrated mass with Folda in the crypt of the Basilica of Saint Peter.

The group’s last day in Rome on Wednesday was a high point as they got to attend a papal audience where Folda met his holiness and celebrated mass at St. John Lateran.

Also while in Italy, Folda celebrated the 36th anniversary of his ordination to the priesthood. Folda was the first United States-appointed Bishop under Pope Francis in 2013.
