SAINT PAUL, Minn. – The Minnesota Pollution Control Agency fines Busch Agricultural Resources nearly $324,000 for violating state rules and federal standards multiple times at the former Budweiser malting plant in Moorhead.
MPCA says the following violations were found during a routine, unannounced inspection of the facility near Interstate 94:
- Failure to conduct 22 performance tests, when the tests were completed, they were 833 days late
- Failure to calculate particulate matter emissions
- Failure to perform tests for particulate matter emissions
- Exceeded particulate matter emissions by 437 percent on one stack and four percent on another stack
- Failure to apply for a permit for the installation of new, permanent generator

The company announced the Moorhead plant would close in November. The company is now getting malting from a plant in Shakopee, Minnesota.
