Call for volunteers to help clear storm debris in Hunter ND

Hunter, N.D. – Cass County is asking for volunteers to help with clearing away extensive storm debris in Hunter.

Chainsaws and other heavy equipment were being used to cut and haul away numerous downed trees since the storms hit Friday night.

A number of customers have also lost power in the area.

Many homes are running on portable power generators to get by until full power is restored.

Internet service is also said to be nonexistent in the area with likely damage to cell phone towers, making it difficult for residents to communicate by cell phone, text or email.

Flag Family Ag Director Bridgette Readel, whose family is okay and is among the storm victims in Hunter, says there are “lots of lines down in town and poles broken everywhere.”

The damage was also seen in Hillsboro in Traill County to Arthur in Cass.

The county is asking anyone interested in volunteering to assist with cleanup efforts to contact them first before heading to Hunter.

You can call coordinators Brad Bateman at (701) 430-3596 or Sean Richardson at (701) 367-2128 prior to arrival.
