LISTEN: Scott Hennen’s interview with Minnesota Speaker of the House Lisa Demuth
MOORHEAD, Minn. – During a statewide media tour stop at the Moorhead Municipal Airport, candidate for Minnesota governor Lisa Demuth talked about difficult issues facing the state.
She pointed to budgets passed by a DFL-run legislature and signed into law by Governor Tim Walz. In March, Minnesota’s Department of Management and Budget projected the state will be in a nearly $6 billion deficit in the 2028-2029 biennium.
“The economic issues and our state budget issues are going to be a challenge for me as the next governor or anyone,” Demuth explained.
Minnesota’s Speaker of the House shared why she believes she has a better vision for the state than Walz.
“Minnesotans just want us to work together and find a way forward so making sure Minnesotans understand that I am the candidate that will work with everyone as we go forward and represent all Minnesotans as governor,” Demuth said.
Demuth said Walz has vilified people that don’t agree with him politically. She had strong words about him recently.
“Tim Walz doesn’t just disagree with us. He hates us,” Demuth said in a campaign video launching her gubernatorial campaign.
DFL Chair Richard Carlbom called Demuth the corporate candidate in the race.
“The CEOs and right-wing corporate lobbyists picked Lisa Demuth because they know she’ll protect hedge funds over health care,” Carlbom said in a press release on November 2.
