Carrington woman charged with impersonating police officer

(Carrington, ND) — A Carrington woman is accused of impersonating a police officer.

Authorities say Carrie Beth Cotton ran a Facebook account claiming to belong to the Carrington chief of police. The account allegedly posted messages apologizing for having marital affairs and letting drug dealers operate in the city. In addition to the impersonation charge, Cotton is charged with multiple misdemeanors across five cases alleging a variety of crimes, including violating a restraining order, harassment and stalking.
