FARGO, ND – The first winter storm of the season has brought power outages to the metro.
Cass County Electric said its customers lost power Tuesday afternoon across its network, with all accounts being restored within four hours of the original loss of power amid a winter storm that brought strong wind and precipitation to the Red River Valley.
“The bulk of those affected has been due to iced lines in trees,” the cooperative posted on social media.
As the afternoon progressed, the company said that customers may experience ‘occasional blinks and brief service interruptions’ as the high winds are causing lines ‘to gallop,’ with conditions expected to persist until the wind settles.
“Because this issue is entirely weather-driven, there is no corrective action we can take until conditions improve,” the cooperative said.
As of 4:20 p.m., Xcel Energy was also reporting power outages affecting less than 30 customers in the metro.
