CASS COUNTY, N.D. (Valley News Live) – The Cass County Sheriff’s Office is warning residents of the most recent scam involving the Cass County Jail inmate search system.
Authorities say that scammers are targeting family members and friends of those who are currently incarcerated. When on the phone, they claim to be from the Cass County Jail, telling them to send bond money using Venmo, PayPal, Zelle, or other digital methods.
The Cass County Jail does not accept bond payments over the phone, via text, or through any digital payment app.
If you receive a call, you should not send money, do not buy gift cards, do not share personal or financial information, and hang up and call the Cass County Sheriff’s Office directly.
