Charges pending after reported stabbing in Moorhead

MOORHEAD – A Moorhead man is being held pending formal charges after a stabbing on Tuesday morning in Moorhead.

According to the Moorhead Police Department, officers were called to the 300 block of 16th Street North at 9:15 a.m. regarding a report of a stabbing. When they arrived, the suspect, who is identified as 37-year-old Joshua Carney, of Moorhead, had fled the scene on foot. He was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Clay County Jail.

Authorities say he’s being held pending formal charges from the Clay County Attorney’s Office for felony second degree assault.

The victim, who is not identified, was transported to a local hospital by Sanford Ambulance. He suffered a serious stab wound, and police said his condition is unknown. The victim and Carney knew each other.

Moorhead Police say there is no ongoing threat to public safety.

The investigation is active and ongoing.
