Child struck in Fargo on Saturday

FARGO, ND – A child suffered serious injuries after being hit on Saturday evening.

Fargo Police Lieutenant Matt Siders says officers were called to the 2200 block of 6th Avenue South before 7 p.m. Saturday for an injury accident involving a motor vehicle and pedestrian.

When they arrived, it was reported that 37-year-old Michael Kimba was leaving a parking lot in the area and failed to notice a minor child had run out into the parking lot in front of his vehicle. He’s suspected of striking the child with his vehicle and dragging the minor for a  short distance.

Kimba then stopped his vehicle and rendered aid to the child.

Nearby witnesses, who saw the incident happen, then made physical contact with Kimba, pulling him from his vehicle and assaulting him. He fled the scene to his residence, where he then called authorities.

No citations have been issued but charges for reckless driving will be sent to the City Attorney for review.
