Clay County Sheriff determines DGF school threat is ‘not credible’

DILWORTH – Officials at Dilworth-Glyndon-Felton Public Schools say the Clay County Sheriff’s Office has determined there’s no credible threat regarding a concerning message sent from a student to ‘a small group of friends.’

“The Sheriff’s Department conducted a thorough investigation and has determined there is no credible threat to student or staff safety,” Superintendent Shannon Hunstad said in a message posted to the school’s Facebook page. “Based on their findings, we are confident that our schools remain safe, and both sites will be open as scheduled tomorrow, Monday September 15th.”

Hunstad said the concern was promptly reported to the school’s resource officer and then to the sheriff’s office. The student who sent the message will not be at the high school on Monday.

“The safety and well-being of our students and staff remain our highest priority,” Hunstad said. “I would also like to extend my sincere thanks to the Clay County Sheriff’s Department for their continued support during this situation. We are grateful for their partnership in keeping our schools and community safe.”
