FARGO, N.D. – Fargo Cass Public Health officials said there’s no health risk after cockroaches were found in a wall cavity at Leeann Chin in the West Acres food court.
FCPH told Flag Family News the Asian restaurant has been closed because of remodeling since early January. The insects were found during demolition of a non-shared interior wall.
During an inspection with mall staff and Leeann Chin employees on January 22, Fargo Cass Public Health said the business removed all walls down to the studs and worked with a licensed pest control company to treat the area before, during and after construction.
Nearby restaurants were inspected by the pest control company which didn’t find any other roaches. Routine inspections and treatment will continued as needed.
FCPH said during the inspection they saw walls were replaced with sheetrock and fiber-reinforced polymer, flooring was removed to the concrete and the ceiling remained open as part of renovation.
“Protecting public health is the top priority of the FCPH Environmental Health division, and we will continue to ensure facilities operate in accordance with applicable public health standards,” Fargo Cass Public Health said in an email.
“We maintain a comprehensive pest management program and are committed to addressing these matters quickly and thoroughly,” West Acres Senior Vice President of Property Management Chris Heaton said in an email.
Flag Family News reached out to Leeann Chinn’s corporate office, but we haven’t heard back.
