FARGO, N.D. – A Fargo resident has been cited after a two-vehicle crash Monday afternoon.

It occurred shortly after 4 p.m. in the intersection of 45th Street South and 11th Avenue South.

Officers responded and found a vehicle had struck an electrical box near the intersection, causing the traffic signal to no longer function properly. They investigated and learned the driver of the vehicle that struck the electrical box had swerved to avoid a collision with another vehicle that was making a left turn at that intersection.

Northbound traffic on 45th Street South was reduced to a single lane for an extended period of time, with Fargo Police conducting traffic control. The lane has since reopened, with the traffic signal already repaired.

The driver making the left-hand turn has been identified as 38-year-old Mingquan Lu and has been cited for failure to yield the right of way. The other vehicle’s driver was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
