FARGO, N.D. (Valley News Live) – A man with a nationwide warrant for attempted homicide has been arrested in West Fargo after an assault.
Drafton Eugene Jones was arrested for unlawful possession of firearm, false information to law enforcement, and issued citations for marijuana possession and an open container.
The Cass County Sheriff’s Department says they were called on July 6 at 12:20 a.m. to a report of an assault where Red River Valley Fair carnival staff were staying.
Officials say the suspect left the scene in a vehicle after the assault, so victims provided officers with a description of the suspect and the vehicle.
An officer located the vehicle and conducted a traffic stop in the Rodeway Inn parking lot in West Fargo.
During the traffic stop, officers positively identified Jones, and through an investigation, learned that he had outstanding nationwide warrants for criminal attempted homicide, a parole violation and flight to avoid.
Officials say the at the time of the report, the victim did not want to press charges against Jones.
Jones is currently in the Cass County Jail working through the criminal justice process.
