Fargo city commission, mayoral and school board candidates to debate on WDAY Radio, The Flag

FARGO, N.D. – Candidates for the Fargo City Commission, Fargo School Board and the mayoral race will participate in debates in the next several weeks, hosted by WDAY Radio and The Flag.

“It’s easy to have your attention captured by things happening in Washington DC or international conflicts, but these local races are so important to how we live and work in our hometowns,” Flag Family Media President and Managing Partner Steve Hallstrom said. “There is no “November” for local races — these June elections are the finish line for these candidates and issues, and we want to do our part to help this community make informed choices.”

The city commission candidate debate will be May 14 from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m.

Candidates that have confirmed their participation are Scott Brekke, Nikkie Gullickson, Aaron Hill, Anna Johnson, Chad Peterson and Jeremy Schaeffer.

The school board candidate debate will be May 19 from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m.

Candidates who have confirmed they will participate are Paul Mohror, Melissa Burkland, Robin Nelson, Greg Clark, Katie Christensen Mineer, Jolene Garty and Carissa Geske.

The mayoral candidates will participate in a debate on May 28 from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m.

All five candidates – Josh Boschee, Denise Kolpack, David Piepkorn, Sekou Sirleaf and Michelle Turnberg – have committed to attend the debate.

Election Day is June 9.
