Fargo fire crews knock down apartment kitchen fire

FARGO – A family is displaced after a kitchen fire in an apartment Wednesday afternoon.

The Fargo Fire Department responded to the 1700 block of 39th Street South at just before 1:30 p.m. on a report of a fire alarm in an apartment building. When they arrived, crews spotted smoke coming from the first floor of the building.

Crews then made entry to a first-floor unit and encountered heavy smoke. When inside, a fire was located on a stovetop. Crews quickly extinguished the fire.

All residents in the unit evacuated before firefighters arrived. They have been displaced and are being assisted by the American Red Cross.

No one was injured and a cost estimate is not available. Battalion Chief Jason Ness said the cause of the fire remains under investigation.
