FARGO – Charges have been filed in Cass County District Court in connection with an early morning incident that led to the SWAT team involved in capturing the suspect.
According to court documents, Michael Wayne Conover has been charged with two Class C felonies – one for aggravated assault and the other for preventing arrest.
Police were called to an incident in Fargo at after 6 a.m. Tuesday morning on a report of a stabbing. When they arrived, officers spoke with the victim, who said he and the alleged suspect, Michael Conover, had lived together at the address since February. The victim added that Conover ‘has become increasing more hostile in the past two weeks’ and the victim believed Conover ‘may be coming off of methamphetamine.’
The victim was stabbed with kitchen knife, which caused ‘a small visible injury,’ according to court documents.
Conover refused to comply with numerous commands to open the door and speak with officers, according to the documents.
The SWAT team eventually arrested Conover.
After the arrest, a sharp kitchen knife was located in the apartment where the stabbing allegedly took place.
Some adjacent apartments were evacuated due to safety reasons.
Conover is set to be arraigned at 1:30 p.m. in Cass County District Court.
