FARGO, N.D. (Valley News Live) -A Fargo man has been sentenced in a deadly shooting that happened in Fargo in September of 2024.
Tyreik Taylor-Roberts was originally charged with murder in the death of 25 year-old Jalab Moses, however that charge was dismissed on Monday, April 7, when he made an Alford plea to a charge of manslaughter.
On May 27, Taylor-Roberts was sentenced to 5 years in jail, followed by 5 years of supervised probation. He will receive credit for 249 days already served.
The shooting happened outside of an apartment complex on September 21, 2024.
Court documents say Taylor-Roberts claimed self-defense from the start. He told witnesses to call the police, and when officers showed up, he handed them the gun and admitted to shooting Moses.
Documents also state that Taylor-Roberts and several witnesses say there was some kind of argument and Moses was coming at him as he backed up and told him to stop.
