(FARGO) – Friday’s shooting was the third homicide in a week in the Fargo-Moorhead metro.
Last weekend, a man was killed in West Fargo, outside of Prairie Heights Church. On Tuesday, 14-year-old Jaelyn Walker was found murdered in the area of 6th Avenue and Elm Street South.
“The Fargo Police Department is constantly looking at efforts to try to stop this violence,” Neighborhood Services Captain Bill Ahlfeldt said Friday afternoon, in the wake of a homicide in the 2200 block of 12th Avenue South.
Those efforts include an intelligence unit, which looks at individuals that are committing crimes with violence; and the NIBIN system, which will be used to process crime guns.
“We’re constantly looking to curb this type of violence, not only with intelligence-led policing, but active police investigation,” he said.
