FARGO, N.D. (Valley News Live) – The Fargo Police Department has a new recruit on the force, and he’s already turning heads.
Axel, a 16-month-old Belgian Malinois, has officially joined the department after arriving from Slovakia. The young pup is set to become a key asset in local law enforcement efforts once he completes his specialized training.
Axel has been paired with his handler, Officer Adam Schock. The duo is currently embarking on a rigorous 13-week K-9 certification program. During this period, Axel will be trained in several critical areas, including:
Narcotic Detection: Identifying illegal substances.
Patrol Skills: Mastering tracking techniques to find missing persons or suspects.
Apprehension: Learning how to safely take down individuals when necessary.
The addition of Axel is part of the department’s ongoing commitment to enhancing public safety and expanding its K-9 unit capabilities. Once certified, Axel and Officer Schock will begin regular patrols together.
