Fargo Public Schools now accepting name submissions for new elementary school

FARGO, N.D. – The public is invited to submit their name ideas for a new elementary school that’s in the works in Fargo.

The building is going up at the old Horace Mann Elementary site along 3rd Street North.

FPS will accept name submissions from October 10th through 4 p.m. on October 24th.

In a press release, the school system says the Fargo Board of Education “will consider names of national or state significance.”

“Additionally, the Board will give consideration to names that have a special significance to the area or to people who have made a significant contribution to education or to the school system,” the statement went on to say.

Each board member will chose their own personal favorites, which will then be whittled down to five at their November 12th meeting.

A finalist will be chosen at their following meeting on November 25th.

This new school, scheduled to open Fall 2028.
